History Center events set through March

Eric Swab, a U.S, Forest Service volunteer who has written books about the Manitou Incline and famous trailbuilder Fred Barr, will share his passion for Pikes Peak in a presentation touching on its past and future at the Old Colorado City History Center Friday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m.
On Friday, Feb. 8, also at 11 a.m., author/historian Linda Wommack will give a History Center talk titled “Haunted Cripple Creek and Teller County.”
The center is at 1 S. 24th St.
Both programs are free to members of the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) and $5 to non-members.
The OCCHS' program description for Wommack reads, in part: “Home to the last gold rush in America, Teller County attracted a slew of peculiar characters. And many never left. A Victor Hotel regular named Eddie met his untimely death when he tumbled down the elevator shaft. A female apparition clad in Victorian clothing appears on the stairs of the Palace Hotel. And lingering spirits are still prisoners at the old Teller County Jail.”
Coming up Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m.: Writer/performer Liz Duckworth portraying legendary professional gambler Poker Alice Tubbs - who, because of her religion, never played cards on Sunday.
