Programs at History Center in January, February
Admission for both is free to Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) members and $5 to non-members. To get more information on either event or how to become a member (or a volunteer), come to the center or call when it's open. The facility's museum and bookstore are free to the public except during programs; winter hours are currently in effect - Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. January: A program by and about the Historic Preservation Alliance is scheduled Friday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. The scheduled speakers are John Haney and Tim Boddington. Also planned is a book-signing for the Alliance-supported 2015 publication, “Historic Homes of Colorado Springs and Vicinity.” According to the Alliance website, the volunteer group focuses on preserving the city's “unique and irreplaceable heritage - cultural, historical, architectural, archaeological, and natural - a heritage that is a local and a national treasure.” February: Don Cesare, a former member of the Marine Corps, CIA and FBI, will give a Powerpoint presentation Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m., covering key events he investigated during his career. The talk is titled “Blue, Gray and Black: My Service to Country.” He will also bring copies of his book, an OCCHS press release states. Westside Pioneer/press release |
