Authors at OCC History Center in March & April

       The Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) will continue offering monthly programs with guest speakers in March and April.
       In the case of Bob Cronk (March 11) and John Wesley Anderson (April 9), both have written books about their subjects.
       They will be in the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St. The center is owned and operated by the volunteer OCCHS. Admission for non-members is $5. Light refreshments will be served.
       Friday, March 11 at 11 a.m., “Chief Manitou: Outbound Journeys” - Cronk will trace the life of Pedro Cajete, an early 20th century Native American who sold trinkets to tourists, was known as “Chief Manitou” and is also remembered as the namesake for Pedro's Cave in Williams Canyon.
       Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m., “Rankin Scott Kelly, First Sheriff of El Paso County (1861-1867)” - Anderson, a former El Paso County sheriff himself, will tell the story of Kelly, who ran away from home at age 14, fearing that he'd killed another boy. “After stepping down as sheriff he sold his land to General Palmer and rode off into the sunset,” a press release states. “The end of the story will surprise and thrill you.”
