Water line replacement closes 24th past mid-January from Colo. to Pikes Peak
A Colorado Springs Utilities contractor blocked off 24th Street from Colorado to Pikes Peak Avenue Jan. 3, and the schedule calls for it to stay closed for about two weeks after that. An aging and leak-prone water line is being replaced, explained a spokesman for the contractor, Beers Construction. An employee for a nearby business confirmed that the street has been torn up multiple times in recent years to repair the old line. Beers' line replacement work will also require digging in the alley east of 24th (behind the Cucuru and Front Range Barbeque restaurants), the Beers worker said. Service interruptions are not planned.
