Meet a Westsider:
Lars Seebohm
Profession/Occupation...
Backhouse manager at Thunder & Buttons.
What I like most about the Westside is... I like the tree-lined streets and the people. They are diverse and tolerant of one another. If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to make it more of a destination for other people of the Springs to come to. A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Raising Arizona.” I’ve been renting a lot of older movies lately. The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “Don’t worry about it, everything will be all right.” From a former employer . . . and it wasn’t. If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Julia Childs. She brought a lot to the culinary culture in the U.S. by getting the art of cooking into the limelight through television. The next time I travel, I’m going to... Germany, to visit my parents, who moved back there after working and living in the U.S. for 20 years. My favorite childhood memory is... In 1970, we emigrated to the U.S. on an ocean liner. I saw the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. It was pretty impressive. I thought I’d see a lot of log cabins. (I’d watched a lot of Westerns as a kid.) My favorite fall pastime is... flyfishing and camping. I also like to hike and enjoy the outdoor settings that I can get to in half an hour. It’s more accessible than California, where it takes a couple of hours to get to places like that. Something good I’ve read is.. “Kitchen Confidential,” by Anthony Bourdain. It’s quite realistic. It talks about the soft white underbelly of the restaurant industry. My pet peeve is... people who are late and unreliable. If I won the lottery, I’d... probably keep doing what I am doing now and maybe live a little more comfortably. Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer.
