West SAIL students to set up ‘wax museum’
SAIL students at West Middle School will pose as ancient Egyptians, including prominent pharoahs, for a one-day “wax museum” in the school library Monday, Nov.
24 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Eric Hamilton, West's SAIL coordinator, said the students will dress as their characters, remaining “frozen” until a “button” is pushed (like in a wax museum). At that point, students will talk about their characters, then return to a frozen state. SAIL is a District 11 gifted-and-talented program offered at West. The students in Connie Graven's seventh-grade social studies class have been studying about Egypt and this is a chance to “to showcase their knowledge,” Hamilton said. The public is welcome to attend, but should call Hamilton ahead of time at 328-3929 or e-mail hamileb@d11.org. Westside Pioneer/press release |
