The total print run was 11,500. The 16-page publication includes six pages of color.
It's the third newspaper this year for the family-owned and operated publication, which is now primarily online after serving as a weekly Westside news source for 10 years (January 2004 to December 2013).
Both print and online services are free to readers.
The information line under the Page 1 banner states "Nov. 2014-Jan. 2015." This reflects the Pioneer plan to print every two months through 2015. This is more frequent than the quarterly print plan announced in August and reflects an ongoing effort by the publishers to reach out to its longstanding print readership as much as possible while maintaining a regularly updated news website. The next issue is scheduled to come out Jan. 14.
Articles in the new print edition include updated versions of some stories that have appeared online (for example, the cost hikes/delays for the Cimarron and Fillmore freeway interchanges) and first-time pieces (such as a look at Westside CARES after a year in the building it bought on Colorado Avenue).
The paper's focus continues to be the Colorado Springs Westside, which the Pioneer defines as west of I-25, north of Cheyenne/Broadmoor, east of Manitou Springs and south of Garden of the Gods Road.
