Program on Pony Express, cattle drives at Old Colorado City History Center Nov. 9
During the audience-participation segment of
Steve Antonuccio's Old Colorado City History Center program in October about
the Alexander Film Company, Ieva "Eve" Hart said her father, Ansis Borzins, had
been an illustrator there. She's holding up a sketch of him - drawn by a fellow
Latvian illustrator at Alexander named Haijs Bergs. Alexander Film was a major
Colorado Springs employer from the 1920s to the 1960s, including an office for a
time in Old Colorado City, Antonuccio said.

In a program Friday, Nov. 9 at the Old Colorado City History Center, local historian Ken Valles will talk about the 1860-61 Pony Express mail service and why cattle drives started in the old West.
Enlivening his program will be “TV and movie clips, photos of paintings, stamps, routes and historical markers and more,” states a write-up from the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS).
The time frame is 11 a.m. to noon. The center is at 1 S. 24th St.
The talk will be free to OCCHS members and $5 for others.
Otherwise, when programs aren't being offered, admission is free to the center, which includes a bookstore and museum focused on Westside and regional history.
