Merrifield honored by community colleges

       State Representative Michael Merrifield (D-District 18) has been named Outstanding Legislator of the Year by the Colorado Community College System (CCCS).
       The annual award is given to legislators “who have demonstrated a strong advocacy for the issues that affect community colleges from a policy standpoint and funding needs,” according to a press release.
       CCCS oversees programs in 13 colleges, plus some school districts and other post-secondary institutions.
