2nd annual Fossil Day free to public at Garden of Gods Visitor Center Oct. 8

Admission is free. The center is at 1805 N. 30th St.
Activities will be indoors and geared for all ages. Included will be presentations by park interpreters at 11 a.m. (Jennifer Heiny - on the park's geology) and 2 p.m. (Wesley Hermann - on the dinosaur whose bones have been found only in the area where the Garden is now).
At 1 p.m., the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will display live animals, including those “with direct ties” to animals from prehistoric eras, according to Bret Tennis, the center's program administrator.
Timed for National Fossil Day (technically Oct. 14), the event will offer displays and informational tables by the Western Interior Paleontology Society (WIPS) and other entities involved with history or geology.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own fossils and have them identified, Tennis said.
