Humane Society's annual Pawtoberfest dog event Sept. 20 at Bear Creek Regional Park The annual Pawtoberfest by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPRR) will offer various dog-related activities Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Regional Park.All proceeds will help fund programs for homeless or abused animals in the Pikes Peak Region, a press release states. Featured is a 5-kilometer“fun run/walk” for dogs and their owners on the trails in the park area east of 21st Street. Fun-run signups will be taken from 8:30 to 10 a.m., with the course open from 10 to 11:30 a.m., according to HSPPR event information. Other Pawtoberfest activities, in the developed-park area west of 21st Street off Argus Boulevard, will include a beer garden, food court, agility course, various contests and an awards ceremony. People can attend Pawtoberfest whether registered or not, although this affects admission and other event fees. There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults that do not participate in the 5K.
