Cyclocross races return to Bear Creek Park
Cyclecross races are scheduled at Bear Creek Regional Park Saturday, Sept. 13
Rider registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Norris Penrose Event Center, 1045 W. Rio Grande St. Participants in various divisions will be competing for more than $2,000 in cash and prizes. The entry fee is $25 per category (except for ages 18 and under). There is no charge for spectators. Cyclecross is bicycle racing against the clock on a dirt course with various types of obstacles. “The 2008 course will be the most difficult course to date,” states a press release from Pikes Peak Velo Racing, the event sponsor. “The 1.8-mile loop will incorporate paved sections on the Norris-Penrose property, a creek crossing, multiple run-ups with 500 feet of running uphill, and over 4,000 feet of off-road riding.” Westside Pioneer/press release |
