Fiddles, Vittles & Vino music/food festival at Rock Ledge Ranch July 31

The 12th year for Fiddles, Vittles & Vino will be Sunday, July 31 at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. Four bands will play, starting at 3 p.m., with double venues (one on the grass in front of the Orchard House, the other on the “pergola stage” at its rear) scheduled until 5:45.
       Meanwhile, large, open-air tents near both stages will offer samples of donated food and beverages from 40-some restaurants, breweries, wineries or suppliers. The event is a fundraiser for the ranch.
       The bands this year are Chatham County Line, from North Carolina, with six albums to its credit; Finnders and Youngberg, members of which played at previous Fiddles events in different bands; WMD Bluegrass Band, a family group from Black Forest with a dad and four teenage musicians; and Wire Wood Station, an area band known for its acoustic sound.
       Chatham, a four-piece string group, will play the closing set only (7 to 8:30 p.m.). The other bands will play twice, except WMD (three sets).
       Until July 24, ticket prices are $45, with a lower cost for children. The price will go up $5 after that.

       Rock Ledge is a city-owned, 1880s-style working ranch located off Gateway Road at 30th Street. The parking lot/entrance is off Gateway Road, west of 30th Street.
       The ranch also has a regular summer season ($8 admission with some age discounts), which continues this year until Aug. 20, Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
       NOTE, July 19: The event-opening time of 2:30 p.m. represents a change from the previously advertised 2 p.m., which was when the gates had opened in previous years. Fiddles organizers said July 19 the change was made because 2 p.m.left too long a time span before 3 p.m., when the music and food became available.
