New twice-weekly program offered at West Center for middle-schoolers
Not enough people signed up for an everyday summer program for middle-schoolers, but Westside Community Center leaders are hoping that a twice-a-week
offering from 1 to 5 p.m. might prove popular.
“We're hoping it will be something that will help parents this summer,” said center director Dick Siever. Continuing from July 7 to Aug. 6, the program will provide outings on Wednesdays and activities at the center on Fridays. The price should prove especially popular. When a daily program was envisioned, the cost was set at $75 a week. But the cost for the new offering is $50 total, with scholarships available on request. The outings will consist of a movie, a hike on a popular foothills trail, bowling, skating and swimming, a flyer states. Signups are limited to the first 13 participants.
