OCCHS Tuesday series kicks off with ice cream July 6
An “Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Pie Social” Tuesday, July 6 will serve as a kickoff for the annual Tuesday Nights in July Historic Program Series at the Old
Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St.
Sponsored by the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the social will be on the History Center patio (inside, if it rains) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be a craft table for children. Admission is free, but there is a cost for the ice cream and pie. The Tuesday programs, all starting at 7 p.m., will be as follows: July 13 - “Forts of the West,” by OCCHS President Phil McDonald. July 20 - “Nikola Tesla, Lightning & Colorado Springs,” by local historian Richard Marold. July 27 - program and signing for OCCHS member Barbara Barbaro's 2009 book, “Law & Disorder in Old Colorado City,” and a presentation by OCCHS board member Paul Shepard on the history of the Ku Klux Klan in this area.
