Cimarron bridge east of I-25 back to normal after structural repairs
The bridge is more than 50 years old. In March, deterioriation had been found in a support holding up a girder under the bridge's south side, according to Public Works. An on-call city contractor implemented the repairs, which took about two months. The cost did not exceed Public Works' budget for emergency bridge repairs, a city press release states. The Cimarron bridge over Fountain Creek is scheduled for full replacement as part of the state's $95 million Cimarron/I-25 interchange project, scheduled from 2015 to 2017. It is one of two bridges on Cimarron east of I-25. The more easterly of the two - the larger, higher one that goes over Conejos Street and the railroad tracks - was replaced about five years ago. That bridge is not slated for replacement in the interchange project.
