Meet a Westsider:
Ricky Martinez

Profession/Occupation... Manager of the Garden of the Gods Ace Hardware store.

What I like most about the Westside is... the friendly atmosphere. People are not in such a big hurry as in other parts of town. Here they stop to say hello or wave.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to fill in all the potholes and fix the streets. My street is like a roller-coaster.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... I don’t go to the movies much, but I want to go see “The Da Vinci Code.” I do enjoy watching, “Deal or No Deal,” which is hosted by Howie Mandel.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... to move to Denver. I did and lived there for four years and was glad to come back here to the Westside.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Cher.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... I like New York City. I’ve been there three times and want to go again. I enjoy the Broadway musicals and visiting the Statue of Liberty.

My favorite childhood memory is... Going to the carnivals when they came to town and going on vacation with my mom and dad. They always made sure to find a motel with a swimming pool after we spent the day sightseeing at places like Mesa Verde.

My favorite spring pastime is... going to Cripple Creek. Otherwise, my favorite pastime is playing Bingo.

Something good I’ve read is.. I’m now reading, “The Da Vinci Code,” by Dan Brown, and it’s very good.

My pet peeve is... people who don’t follow through on what they say they’re going to do.

If I won the lottery, I’d... pay off all my and my family’s, uncles, cousins, bills and help out all my employees and give to charities.
