Church adding dining hall

A project to build a dining hall has been under way in recent weeks on the grounds of the Saints Constantine & Helen Holy Theophany Orthodox Church at 2770 N. Chestnut St.

The dome of the Orthodox Church sanctuary looms above the new construction.

According to Father Anthony Karbo, the schedule calls for completion by the end of July. “It will be a nice facility when it's done,” he said.
Located just behind the domed sanctuary on the 1.75-acre property, the hall is designed in the same 12th century Byzantine style (though without domes). Its 3,220 square feet will also house an accessory kitchen area, restrooms and a small storage space, plans show, with an estimated capacity of 250.
The hall will also be available for neighborhood rental, Karbo said.
