Uitilies works to improve fire flow in 2 cul-de-sacs
A Colorado Springs Utilities project to improve water flow to fire hydrants was nearing completion this week near Howbert Elementary, in the Adams and Chambers
Circle cul-de-sacs off 31st Street.
Also, a hydrant is being added between them, according to Utilities spokesperson Dave Grossman. The work, which required considerable digging with heavy equipment, has been finished on Chambers and is scheduled to wind up on Adams this week, with final paving to occur in about two weeks, he said. Another reason for the line replacements was that routine inspections found corrosion issues in the original 4-inch, half-century-old, cast-iron water pipes. The new lines are the 8-inch, heavy-duty plastic that Utilities now uses for such lines, Grossman said. Westside Pioneer article |
