Kickoff event June 1 for summer reading program at Old Colorado City Library May 18, 2018The Old Colorado City Library, 2418 W. Pikes Peak Ave., will kick off its youth summer reading program with an event Friday, June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. In addition to signing up for the program, activities will include games, face painting and light refreshments. Kids up to age 18 are invited, as well as parents. According to Courtney Hom, a senior library associate for children's services, the idea is to “motivate kids to read in the summer.” In the program, students build up points based on the time they spend reading, and those points can be used for a prize (possibly a book) at summer's end, Hom explained. The library phone is 634-1698 x2.
