GoG Visitor Center adds activities for summer

       Starting with the first of the weekly prairie falcon walks Wednesday, May 19, the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center is ramping up for summer.
       Other free Visitor Center guided walks will begin in June, along with the Magpie Players depiction of historical Colorado Springs characters, a press release states.
       Here is the schedule for the summer (hike leader in parentheses, where provided):
  • Falcon Walk - Wednesdays at 5 p.m., until the falcon nest is vacated later in the summer
  • Insect Walk (Bret Tennis) - June 8 and 22, July 27, Aug. 10 and 24. All at 9 a.m.
  • Geology Walk - Perkins Trail (Jay Temple) - June 1, July 6, Aug. 3. All at 6:30 p.m.
  • Geology Walk - Ridge Trail (Beverly Cellini) - June 24, July 22, Aug. 26. All at 6:30 p.m.
  • Photography Walk - Palmer Trail (Paul deBerjeois) - June 9, July 14, Aug. 11. All at 5 p.m.
  • Photography Walk - Ridge Trail (Paul deBerjeois) - June 23, July 28, Aug. 25. All at 9 a.m.
  • Wildflower Walk - Ridge Trail (Suzanne Jarvinen) - June 24, July 8 and 15. All at 9 a.m.
  • Bat Walk - Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., beginning June 15.
  • Magpie Players - Thursdays at 4:45 p.m., June to August.
           Note: Reservations are required for all but the Falcon Walk and Geology Walk - Perkins Trail and the Magpie Players.
           Free daily guided walks are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
