Final push to finish OCC Library tile mural, with celebration May 16
Concrete Couch, the nonprofit art organization serving as the project contractor, will be working with experienced volunteers throughout the week leading up to a celebration party at the library Saturday, May 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. Nearly all the tiles have already been made or bought commercially, so the main work is to mortar them in place. The location is the back of the library parking lot, on the concrete walls along the pedestrian ramp that connects from the lot to the library entrance and to the alley above. One already-installed row of five tiles identifies the work as the "Magical History Tour, 2015, by Concrete Couch and Community Volunteers." The tile installation effort started in late April.
