Whittlers’ woodworking wonders on Westside

The Pikes Peak Whittlers Club presented its 23rd annual Woodcarving Show last weekend at the Shrine Club, 6 S. 33rd St. At left, among the hundreds of items displayed at the 36 booths
at the show, is a lighted house that was carved out of basswood by Duane Genzlinger of Pierce, Colo. A trade carpenter by day, Genzlinger said he creates such designs for personal
pleasure. “It’s like not working,” he said. “I can turn off my brain.” Of a similar mind is Ed Moore of Fort Collins (right), who even had a sign in front of his booth announcing that nothing
was for sale, “I do this for fun.”
