As part of the Jan. 17 funeral service in Fairview Cemetery for Re-tired Army Col. Alfred Earle Spry of the 1st Cavalry, John Brownrigg rode in a cavalry uniform, accompanied by an unmounted “caparison horse,” ceremonially outfitted with reversed boot in the stirrup and the saber on the opposite side, with pommel forward.
